KIRA FONTANA GOES ROCK ARRESTING INDIE ALBUM PACKS FIERCE PUNCH WITH A POLISHED GLOVE Composer Kira Fontana Releases Alt-Rock Debut Mixed by Montreal's Howard Bilerman Composer Kira Fontana Releases Alt-Rock Debut Mixed by Montreal's Howard Bilerman KIRA FONTANA: THE INNER REVOLUTION (Spark the Fire! Records, Release Date: 2008) Exceptional in its exquisite craft and bold simplicity, intimate solo moments and sweeping arrangements, The Inner Revolution has all the raw emotional impact of a rock album and the power and beauty of a classical composition. The debut of arresting new alt-rock artist Kira Fontana, The Inner Revolution packs a fierce punch with razor precision - no doubt partially due to the fact that songwriter Fontana is also a conservatory trained composer. While one may hear distant echoes of Tori Amos' driving piano, the anthemic post-rock of Sigur Rós or the minimalism of Steve Reich, Fontana's tour-de-force song writing and haunting voice stand on territory all their own. With lyrical depth, intelligence and fire to spare, it's an intensely beautiful new music - immediate, real and impossible to pin down. Mixed by Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Godspeed You Black Emperor) at Montreal's famed Hotel 2 Tango and mastered by legendary Howie Weinberg (Smashing Pumpkins, Jeff Buckley), The Inner Revolution merges a quiet force with a no holds-barred sound that is at times almost orchestral in scope. Intricate bells, weaving vocal harmonies, mean bass lines, ethereal strings and unorthodox song structures come together to form a musical language uniquely Fontana. On the irony of such forces in an alt-rock album, Fontana says, "For me, The Inner Revolution is about coming full circle - back to the truth of who I am - both on a personal level, and also as a musician. If the music straddles the boundaries between alt-rock and chamber music, it's because they are both a very real part of me. I used to pretend I didn't grow up writing rock songs and listening to U2 to fit in at music school, but I think it's exciting to be in that in between place now." Subtle, riveting and best listened to at high volume in a dark room, The Inner Revolution is more of an experience than a group of songs - a stunning debut from an extraordinary new artist destined to light a path all her own. ### For more press information, visit: KiraFontana.com/Press Press Contact: press@kirafontana.com or (323) 274-2370.
